Just wanted to share..
One channel of my poweramp played less loud, so I had to investigate. Visual inspection showed that the power tubes had only faintly lit filaments..
It is a PSE RS282 amplifier, so indirectly heated tubes. The driver is RS282 as well, so six tubes in total. The heater supply voltage is divided in three batches of two RS282, demanding 8 Volts at 3.2 Amps each. *Steady currentdraw*
As you can see in the pictures 'household' terminal blocks will fail you in the end. Steady currentdraw over these screwed only connectors will build up resistance and melt plastic to oil which disintegrates the metal connector..
In batches of two. The left connections pair has one blackened connector, the middle altrady started as well.
